SELKT SOUNDSYSTEM is an independent online radio platform and sound-culture archive based in Johannesburg, South Africa. For the purposes of POPIA, SELKT is the "responsible party" (data controller) for the personal information described in this policy. We only collect what we need to run the platform:

Information you give us — your name, email address, location and any links or messages you provide when you join our mailing list or submit work for consideration.

Information collected automatically — basic technical and usage data such as your device type, browser, approximate location (from your IP address) and how you interact with the Site, gathered through cookies and similar technologies.

We use your personal information to:

• send you mailing-list updates you have asked for; • review and respond to submissions and enquiries; • operate, maintain and improve the Site and its content; • understand which content resonates with our audience; and • comply with our legal obligations.

• Vercel — website hosting and delivery; • Tally — mailing-list and form collection; • Mixcloud, SoundCloud and YouTube — embedded audio and video players, which may set their own cookies and collect data when you play media; and • analytics tools used to measure Site performance. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences and measure usage. Embedded players (such as Mixcloud) may place cookies when you interact with them. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some features.

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law. Mailing-list data is kept until you unsubscribe. Submission data is kept for as long as needed to evaluate and, where relevant, feature the work.

The Site is not directed at children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
